The component shown here is a high voltage, high efficiency, rotary type discharger. Its unique design takes one step beyond Edwin Gray's conversion tube. The secondary spark gap is eliminated using Perreault's construction design. No added timing components are required other than the minute air flow that this component uses. As a result, there is no wasted energy to send back to the power source. Perreault says that the air-pump can also be eliminated by using a low-level alpha emitter. However, the advanced design that utilizes radiant matter will not reach the general public until a government exemption can be secured.

The rotary ion discharge (RID) tube can be used in existing technologies. Some examples are; replacement of high powered radio vacuum tubes, amplifiers, inverters, induction heating, and high frequency lighting. Once engineers realize what this component will do it could find practical use in several areas.
