A fuel cell is an electrochemical energy conversion device. It is almost three times more efficient at converting fuel to power than conventional combustion methods of the same size.

The Perreault reversible fuel cell produces electricity, water and heat by reacting positive hydrogen ions with negative hydroxyl ions. Its unique electrochemical system allows hydrogen and oxygen to be stored in two separated solutions. Unlike conventional fuel cells, this fuel cell stores energy in the solutions, so that the capacity of the system is determined by the size of the solution tanks, while the system power is determined by the size of surface area of the cell plates.
