Camping is a fun activity where you can go anywhere at any time. If you want to start showing your eco-friendly living, camping is a great choice for you and your family. You can go face-to-face with nature, giving you the chance to see the difference in your lifestyle. 

It’s an activity that can remind you to use less electricity and reduce your carbon footprint. Make sure that you bring more natural body products with safe ingredients. Bring reusable items to avoid the temptation of leaving your items, like paper plates or plastic cups. 

Camping can become an eco-friendly activity if you make sure to reduce all your wastes. You can also make clean up a game while you travel to your destination. 

2. Make A Garden

Growing your vegetables and fruits is a great way to save money and show your eco-friendliness. It will also encourage you and your family to add veggies to your meals. You can also teach your children to get involved with nature by taking care of the garden with you. 

If you don’t have enough space, you can plant seeds in a small cup or a pot. You can also make windowsill boxes to brighten up your view. It can filter the air going into your home and give you space for small veggie patches or herbs.

Birdwatching is a great activity that can get you involved with the natural world. There are many types of birds that you and your family can learn about. To get involved with birdwatching, why not make a birdhouse or birdbath for your yard. 

You can also have a bird feeder with different feeds, such as peanuts, thistle, suet, or fruit. Create a natural living place for birds by growing native trees, plants, and shrubs. Make your home more inviting to birds by avoiding insecticides and placing the birdhouses away from predators. 

5. Say No to Plastic

Plastic is a non-biodegradable material that can stick around for many years. It’s not only bad for humans, but it is also bad for the environment and animals. Every year, we have about eight million tons of plastic escaping to the oceans. 

Many animals mistake these plastic products for food, leaving them in their stomach for a long time. It kills many seals, mammals, and sea birds due to ingestion or getting tangled in them. It’s time for you to discard your use of plastic without having to throw them away. 

Switch to reusable bags and ditch the one-time-use plastic drinking bottles. Don’t go for frozen convenience foods since they come wrapped in plastic. Go for natural cloth rather than plastic scrubbers to clean. 

6. Go Out For A Hike

A good way to connect with nature and get some exercise is by going on a hike. Hiking is a very healthy method to enjoy your eco-friendly living. It can bring out a lot of positive emotions, which increases your gratefulness for nature. 

Make sure you bring your own food and reusable water bottle. While you adventure around, why not take the opportunity to clean up the trail. Respect the environment by leaving things as they are, like bird nests or flowers. 

7. Make Plant-Based Meals

Plant-based meals are a great way to reduce eating and buying meat. It benefits the environment and your health if you make it a habit to eat plant-based meals. You can still add a small amount of meat with your food, but you have to think of it as the garnish. 

Eating plant-based meals will also reduce the chances of diseases like stroke. Animal agriculture handles 18% greenhouse gas emissions, more than transportation exhaust. With plant-based meals, you reduce the need to buy and use meat in your recipes. 

8. Practice Conservation

Since your aware of how you can use natural resources, it’s time you start practicing conservation. You can start by doing simple tasks like turning off the light in your room when you leave. It would help if you also unplugged appliances and chargers when you’re not using them. 

Conserving water also reduces the time and amount needed to filter it. Conserve your water and energy by taking short showers. You should also avoid letting the water run when you brush your teeth or wash your face. 

9. Enjoy A Nice Night Swim

Swimming is a great all-round activity that you can enjoy with your friends and family. With a nice dock area and solar dock lights, you can take your time to enjoy the night sky.  

10. Change Your Travel Habits

We all know that the emissions from driving or flying affect our environment. Choose a more fuel-efficient travel option or pick the direct routes where you can save more fuel. Look for more ways to reduce your travel habits, try riding a bike instead of a car if where you’re going is close by. 

Encourage Your Eco-Friendly Living

Involve yourself in green living and encourage the people around you to do the same. Start with simple things like conserving, walking, eating healthy, and switching from plastic. Go outside of your home and enjoy nature while you camp, hike, birdwatch, or picnic.
